From the Brewer:
Samuel Adams Stony Brook Red was inspired by Belgian Reds and Flemish Ouds Bruin. Belgian Red ales are known for their distinct flavors of fruit and sour tartness. These flavors come from using special yeast strains and aging the beer for long periods of time in oak barrels. The beer is also the result of blending of old and young versions. Flemish Oud Bruins, like Red ales, are tart and sour with an added sweetness and smoothness and a roasted malt character.
